Pastor Roger McPhail

Rev. Roger McPhail and his wife, Rev. Teresa McPhail, founded Gateway City Church formerly New Hope Fellowship Church in 1990. It is a vibrant, growing church, which has passion for the presence of God and desires to see His tangible, manifested presence walking on each street of the city of New York through every believer.

Both Apostle and Pastor, Rev. McPhail moves prophetically and is a dynamic preacher and passionate worshiper. He leads his people to be the same. Rev. McPhail is on the cutting edge of interpreting post-modern Christianity, dialoguing with emerging church leaders, seeking and discerning the relevancy of Christ in our culture.

He is a member of the International Coalition of Apostles, headed by Dr. C. Peter Wagner. Rev. McPhail is the Chancellor of the regional Wagner Leadership Institute, established by Dr. Wagner. Those who attend will have the finest teaching from powerful apostolic leaders from across the nation. Its goal is to equip leaders in the necessary skills for effective ministry in their gifting for power evangelism in the marketplace, the church and the street, to build the Body of Christ.

The Lord has put a passion and burden in Rev. McPhail's heart to unite the city's pastors and go in to the streets to see transformation. In response to this burden, Rev. McPhail founded Mission New York, which is a network of over 225 pastors that meet monthly for prayer and impartation of vision. Strategies are discussed and city-reaching efforts are implemented. One such city-reaching event was Pray New York, where Rev. McPhail and the Mission New York pastors and their congregations, "prayer-walked" all 9,400 blocks of Brooklyn, as well as having intercessors pray over every highway, waterway, subway line, bridge and airport. Jesus is enthroned over this city!

The success of these city wide endeavors have been covered by periodicals such as Billy Grahams' "Decision" Magazine, the Assemblies of God, "Evangel," Toronto Airport Fellowship, "Spread the Fire, Robert Stearns' "Kairos" as well it has been featured in transformation video's produced by the Assemblies of God and Ed Silvoso's "Harvest Evangelism." CBS Evening News actually covered one of Gateway City's Outreaches.

These past 20 years of ministry have seen much movement in the Spirit of God. Because of Rev. McPhail's faith, vision and leadership, Gateway City is poised to move in destiny and not status quo. Gateway City is a multi-cultural, multi-generational congregation with a city-reaching vision. It has grown from a prayer meeting in a rented facility to a thriving congregation with an elementary school, having purchased several properties to accommodate a continually expanding ministry. The latest purchase, when complete, will house a sanctuary for 1,000 people.
